Uzbekistan and Pakistan Agree to Promote Cooperation Between Tashkent Region and Punjab

Lahore, The Gulf Observer: The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan continues to play an active role in promoting interregional cooperation and strengthening business ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
On March 11, 2026, an important meeting was held in the historic city of Lahore between Governor of Tashkent Region Zoir Mirzaev, Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, and Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
During the meeting, the participants agreed to advance cooperation between Tashkent Region and the Province of Punjab as “sister regions.” The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in key sectors including agriculture, textiles, tourism, livestock, and investment, as well as promoting cultural initiatives between the two regions.
Both sides expressed interest in strengthening practical partnerships that could enhance economic interaction and create new opportunities for businesses and investors in Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan Alisher Tukhtaev welcomed the growing engagement and noted the strong interest shown by Pakistani partners in expanding bilateral cooperation.
He expressed confidence that such initiatives and high-level interactions would further deepen friendship, mutual trust, and economic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
