Azerbaijan and China’s Universal Energy Review Progress on Gobustan Solar Power Plant

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov held a meeting with Nan Yi, President of China’s Universal Energy Company, to review ongoing cooperation in the renewable energy sector, the ministry announced.

The discussions centred on the construction of the Gobustan Solar Power Plant, the first auction-based renewable energy project in Azerbaijan with a capacity of 100 MW. Both sides noted the successful installation of the plant’s first solar panel, which was completed today, marking a key milestone in the project’s implementation.

The meeting also explored opportunities to further expand bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. Special attention was given to Universal Energy’s expertise in long-term and secure energy storage technologies, which could support Azerbaijan’s renewable energy goals.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing joint projects that contribute to Azerbaijan’s growing green energy infrastructure.
