Azerbaijan and COP29

COP29, one of the most significant international events focused on combating climate change, stands out this year with two main zones – the Blue Zone and the Green Zone. The Blue Zone is primarily dedicated to official discussions and speeches by state representatives, hosting formal events and panel discussions. In contrast, the Green Zone serves as a platform for bringing together various groups.

Green Zone: Representation of a Broad Audience

The Green Zone at COP29 unites a diverse group of participants, including representatives from the public and private sectors, media professionals, scientists, youth, local communities, civil society, and official delegates from the Blue Zone, providing a platform for communication. This zone is designed for collaboration, innovation, and experience sharing at various levels, showcasing initiatives, programs, and technological innovations. It serves as an ideal space for countries and organizations to demonstrate the measures they are taking to combat climate change.

Azerbaijan’s Presentation and Cultural Heritage Promotion

Azerbaijan’s exhibits in the Green Zone offer an invaluable opportunity to showcase the country’s ancient culture and artistic traditions to the world. In addition to promoting Azerbaijani tourism, these exhibits feature traditional crafts such as mat weaving, textiles, carpet making, and stained glass (shabaka) art, representing the country’s rich cultural heritage and serving as a powerful means of international recognition.

Huseyn Haji Mustafazade, an artist specializing in shabaka (stained glass art), noted, “My works are met with great interest by foreigners. My spherical shabaka piece has participated in numerous international competitions.” Khalida, a mat-weaving artist, shared, “Foreign guests show great interest in this art. I even teach them how to make woven bags.”
