Azerbaijan and UAE Strengthen Military Cooperation Through High-Level Talks and Joint Exercises

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov on Monday received Brigadier General Mohammed Saeed Alsalmi, Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the UAE Presidential Guard, to discuss ways to enhance military cooperation between the two nations.
Welcoming the delegation, Hasanov emphasized that Azerbaijan and the UAE continue to strengthen their defense ties across various areas, the country’s Defense Ministry said in a statement, as reported by News.Az.
He highlighted the significance of the “Indestructible Partnership-2025” joint special forces exercise, held in Azerbaijan, as an important platform for exchanging experience and strengthening operational coordination.
Brigadier General Alsalmi commended the ongoing collaboration between the special forces of both countries, noting that mutual visits and joint exercises have played a vital role in deepening bilateral defense cooperation.
The meeting also featured discussions on a range of issues of mutual interest aimed at expanding defense and security ties.
During their visit, the UAE delegation toured a military unit of the Azerbaijani Special Forces, where Alsalmi met with Major General Alakbar Jahangirov, Commander of the Azerbaijani Special Forces. The two sides reviewed the development of military cooperation and discussed the combat readiness and training programs of Azerbaijani units.
Both officials agreed that joint exercises between Azerbaijani and Emirati special forces significantly enhance the professionalism and operational effectiveness of servicemen, underscoring the importance of continuing such engagements.
