Azerbaijan Highlights Growing Cooperation at Turkmenistan Investment Forum in Avaza

Avaza, The Gulf Observer: The Turkmenistan Investment Forum convened recently in the coastal city of Avaza, bringing together representatives from governments, international organizations, and business communities to explore economic potential and strengthen global investment cooperation, News Hub Consultants reported.

Azerbaijan was represented by Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Alakbarov, who addressed the plenary session titled “Turkmenistan’s Investment Attractiveness as a Strategic Efficiency Factor.”

Alakbarov emphasized that the high-level trust and mutual understanding between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan play a vital role in reinforcing bilateral ties. He highlighted ongoing joint projects that contribute significantly to the efficiency of the Middle Corridor, noting that transit shipments between the two countries reached 1.28 million tons in the first seven months of 2025 — a 13 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The forum also spotlighted Azerbaijan’s favorable investment climate, reconstruction and development in liberated territories, incentives for foreign investors, strategic transport and logistics infrastructure, the prospects of the Zangezur Corridor, as well as the potential of the Alat Free Economic Zone and industrial parks.

Deputy Minister Alakbarov further outlined opportunities for expanding cooperation in energy, trade, mutual investment, transportation, and agriculture, underscoring Azerbaijan’s readiness to broaden its partnership with Turkmenistan and international stakeholders.
