Azerbaijan Highlights Strategic Role of Middle Corridor at Central Asian Leaders’ Summit

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan and the Central Asian region have become an essential bridge connecting major global directions, President Ilham Aliyev stated at the 7th Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia held in Tashkent.
“Today, Azerbaijan and Central Asia serve as a vital link and bridge between East and West, North and South. The development of the Middle Corridor holds strategic importance for our countries,” President Aliyev said in his address.
He emphasized that coordinated efforts to modernize transport and logistics infrastructure, along with the synchronization and digitalization of customs procedures, are creating significant opportunities to boost regional and international trade.
“Joint efforts to modernize transport and logistics infrastructure, synchronize and digitize customs procedures open broad opportunities for increasing cargo volumes, strengthening economic resilience, and expanding engagement in international markets,” he noted.
President Aliyev further highlighted that cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor through Azerbaijan has risen by 90 percent over the last three years, reflecting growing confidence in the route and its expanding role in global supply chains.
The meeting brought together leaders from across the region to discuss regional cooperation, connectivity and economic development.
