Azerbaijan, Italy Strengthen Ties Through Parliamentary Diplomacy

Baku, The Gulf Observer: As part of his official visit to Italy, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Lorenzo Fontana, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, to discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation as well as regional developments in the post-conflict period.
During the meeting, both sides underscored the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy, high-level visits, and continuous dialogue in enhancing the multidimensional strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy. They highlighted reciprocal visits by parliamentary speakers and representatives as a key pillar of bilateral cooperation.
The officials praised the successful collaboration between the two countries in political, economic, energy, trade, transport, communications, and humanitarian sectors. Particular emphasis was placed on long-term energy cooperation and Azerbaijan’s critical role in ensuring Europe’s energy security. The establishment of the Italy-Azerbaijan University was also noted as a significant milestone that has further strengthened strategic ties.
Minister Bayramov briefed President Fontana on post-conflict developments following the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, including the current regional situation, the outcomes of the historic Washington meeting, and ongoing large-scale restoration and reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the commitment of both countries to deepen their cooperation.
