Azerbaijan Joins Global Earth Hour 2026 Campaign with Widespread Participation

Azerbaijan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: IDEA Public Union, in collaboration with World Wildlife Fund (WWF), co-organized a large-scale national action to mark the Earth Hour 2026 global campaign, drawing widespread participation across Azerbaijan.

On the evening of March 28, around 80 institutions and organizations across the country joined the initiative by switching off the façade lighting of their administrative buildings for one hour, starting at 8:30 p.m. local time. The symbolic gesture was complemented by the active involvement of hundreds of young citizens from various cities and regions, demonstrating strong national support for environmental sustainability and global solidarity.

As the official coordinator of the Earth Hour campaign in Azerbaijan, IDEA Public Union expressed its appreciation to all participating institutions, organizations, and individuals for their meaningful contribution to this year’s initiative.

Observed annually in March, Earth Hour unites millions of people worldwide in a collective call to protect the planet. From globally recognized landmarks such as Big Ben in London and the Sydney Opera House in Australia to major sites in cities around the world, lights are switched off in a powerful statement of environmental awareness.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Earth Hour, a significant milestone since its inception in 2007. Over the years, the initiative has evolved into more than just a symbolic hour, serving as a global movement to inspire action, strengthen connections with nature, and promote environmental responsibility.
