Azerbaijan Marks 107th Anniversary of Its Air Force

Baku, The Gulf Observer: February 14 marks the 107th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijani Air Force, a key component of the country’s Armed Forces entrusted with safeguarding national airspace and executing strategic and operational missions.
Formed to ensure the protection of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty from the skies, the Air Force has evolved into one of the most capable military aviation forces in the South Caucasus region. Over the decades, it has developed into a modern and dynamic structure equipped with advanced aviation units, air defense systems, radar installations, and various auxiliary divisions.
In terms of material and technical capacity, the Azerbaijani Air Force holds a leading position in the region. Azerbaijani pilots are recognized among those with the highest number of flight hours within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), reflecting the force’s emphasis on operational readiness and professional training.
In recent years, comprehensive reforms and expanded international partnerships have significantly strengthened the Air Force’s combat capabilities. Modernization programs, technological upgrades, and joint initiatives with allied nations have enhanced operational efficiency and defense preparedness.
Looking ahead, Azerbaijan plans to continue modernizing its air capabilities by expanding domestic defense production and introducing cutting-edge technologies into its aviation and air defense systems.
The servicemen of the Azerbaijani Air Force remain committed to upholding the high standards of professionalism demonstrated during the 44-day Patriotic War and subsequent operations. They stand ready to carry out any combat order of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Ilham Aliyev.
