Azerbaijan President Says Country Faced the Greatest Injustice in Recent History

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has said that Azerbaijan was subjected to some of the gravest injustices in recent history due to the prolonged occupation of its territories, while stressing the failure of international mechanisms to ensure the implementation of decisions taken in the country’s favor.
Speaking at a meeting with residents who have been relocated to the city of Aghdam, President Aliyev stated that, in many similar situations around the world, international organizations and major powers condemn occupation, apply pressure on occupying forces, or impose sanctions. However, he noted that Azerbaijan did not receive such effective support despite the clear facts on the ground.
“We were the ones faced with the biggest injustices in the history of recent years. Because our lands were occupied,” the President said, adding that recent history clearly demonstrates the selective approach adopted by certain international actors.
President Aliyev further pointed out that although international organizations adopted correct and just resolutions during the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and in the period following the ceasefire, none of these bodies took concrete steps to ensure the enforcement of those decisions.
He emphasized that the lack of implementation of international resolutions prolonged the conflict and deepened the sense of injustice felt by the Azerbaijani people, particularly those who were forcibly displaced from their homes.
The President reiterated that Azerbaijan ultimately restored its territorial integrity through its own efforts, underscoring the importance of national unity, resilience, and decisive leadership in achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
