Azerbaijan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President Ilham Aliyev announced plans for the construction of two major reservoirs, “Hakarichay” and “Bargushadchay,” in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, during a meeting on the State Program for 2026–2035 aimed at improving water supply, wastewater, and stormwater systems in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula.

“The construction of two more large reservoirs in the liberated territories is planned, and preparatory work is already underway,” President Aliyev stated, highlighting the government’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development in newly liberated areas.

The Head of State further emphasized that practical work on the projects is expected to begin this year, signaling a significant step toward enhancing water management, flood control, and sustainable resource utilization in the region.

The reservoirs are part of a broader state program designed to modernize Baku’s urban water infrastructure, improve stormwater management, and ensure reliable access to clean water for residents, while also supporting long-term regional development objectives.
