Baku, The Gulf Observer: Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with participants of the third meeting of the parliamentary friendship groups of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), reaffirming commitment to deeper trilateral cooperation.

Referring to President Ilham Aliyev’s statement that “Our family is the Turkic world,” Gafarova emphasized that the growing collaboration among the three nations reflects a shared vision of unity and solidarity across the Turkic world.

The discussions underscored the effectiveness of parliamentary diplomacy in both bilateral and trilateral formats, highlighting the Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Northern Cyprus framework as a key platform for enhancing cooperation and strengthening ties among their respective peoples. Gafarova noted that the ongoing engagements in Baku are expected to further consolidate relations and open new avenues for collaboration.

Ziya Öztürkler, Speaker of the Assembly of the TRNC, expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s consistent solidarity, friendship, and support. He described the establishment of a parliamentary friendship group with Northern Cyprus in Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis as a significant milestone in advancing institutional ties.

Meanwhile, Şamil Ayrım, head of the Türkiye–Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group, highlighted the importance of sustaining close parliamentary relations among the friendly nations and shared perspectives on further expanding trilateral cooperation.

The meeting reaffirmed the collective determination of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and the TRNC to strengthen parliamentary engagement as a cornerstone for broader political, economic, and cultural collaboration within the Turkic world.
