Azerbaijan–U.S. Strategic Partnership Charter Sets Long-Term Framework for Bilateral Cooperation: Speaker Gafarova

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Charter on Strategic Partnership between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America marks a significant milestone in bilateral relations, establishing long-term priorities for cooperation across multiple strategic sectors, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova said during a plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament.
Addressing lawmakers, the Speaker noted that the Charter, signed during the visit of the U.S. Vice President to Azerbaijan, provides a solid foundation for expanding collaboration in energy, transport, investment, space industry, digital infrastructure, defense, security, and other key areas of mutual interest.
She emphasized that the document reflects the shared commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation based on respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, and national interests. According to her, the agreement aligns with common objectives of ensuring peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and beyond.
Gafarova highlighted that the elevation of Azerbaijan–U.S. relations to a qualitatively new level with one of the world’s leading powers was made possible through the consistent and forward-looking policies pursued by President Ilham Aliyev.
The Speaker also commended the United States’ efforts to promote peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, particularly acknowledging the role of U.S. President Donald Trump in supporting initiatives aimed at achieving lasting stability in the South Caucasus.
She underscored that Washington’s support for a just and durable peace in the region has created new opportunities for enhanced cooperation and broader economic integration, further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
