A telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Karen Donfried.
AZERTAC was told by the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the parties exchanged views on current regional processes, including on various aspects of the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Jeyhun Bayramov brought to the attention of the other side the well-known position of Azerbaijan on ensuring peace and progress in the region, including the opening of communications, delimitation of the border of the two states, starting work on the future peace treaty, and the steps taken by Azerbaijan in these directions. The importance of full implementation of the obligations of the parties was emphasized.
Karen Donfried highly appreciated the first direct meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Tbilisi and emphasized the importance of continuing direct contacts.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the telephone conversation.
