Azerbaijani and UAE Parliamentary Speakers Hold Talks to Strengthen Strategic and Interparliamentary Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, held a meeting with a delegation led by Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), during his official visit to Baku.
The meeting commenced with a one-on-one discussion between the two Speakers, followed by an expanded session with the participation of members from both parliamentary delegations.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova welcomed her counterpart and expressed confidence that the first official visit of the UAE FNC Speaker to Azerbaijan would mark a new chapter in bilateral parliamentary engagement, further strengthening friendly relations, expanding cooperation, and deepening interparliamentary ties between the two nations.
The sides praised the current level of relations between Azerbaijan and the UAE, emphasizing the deep historical, religious, and cultural bonds that unite the two peoples. They also underscored the importance of maintaining a dynamic political dialogue through high-level reciprocal visits and the effective implementation of bilateral agreements.
Highlighting that ties between the two countries have been elevated to the level of a strategic partnership under the leadership of their respective heads of state, the Speakers noted that cooperation continues to expand — particularly in renewable energy, trade, and investment sectors.
For his part, Saqr Ghobash expressed his satisfaction with his first official visit to Azerbaijan and participation in the international parliamentary conference. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to further strengthening its relations with Azerbaijan across all fields.
The UAE Speaker also shared his impressions from his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing that the mutual respect and trust between the two leaders form a solid foundation for advancing political, economic, and cultural cooperation. He further noted the importance of enhancing collaboration in the cultural and humanitarian spheres to foster greater understanding between the peoples of both nations.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of interparliamentary relations, and discussed the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation previously signed between the two legislative bodies.
The discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment of Azerbaijan and the UAE to promoting mutual partnership, regional development, and global parliamentary dialogue.
