Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Holds Bilateral Meetings in Geneva to Strengthen Interparliamentary Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, held a series of bilateral meetings with her counterparts from various countries on July 30, as part of her working visit to Geneva, Switzerland.

In her meeting with Verona Murphy, Speaker of the Parliament of Ireland, the two sides highlighted the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy and the active international engagement of national legislatures. They stressed the importance of strengthening interparliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Ireland and encouraged further cooperation through the activities of interparliamentary friendship groups.

Speaker Gafarova also met with Igor Grosu, Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova. The meeting was marked by a mutual appreciation of the strong bilateral ties and the close cooperation between Azerbaijan and Moldova in international organizations. Both parties underlined the importance of reciprocal visits and sustained interparliamentary dialogue to further deepen relations.

In separate meetings with Yerlan Koshanov, Speaker of the Majilis of Kazakhstan, and Adama Bictogo, President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire, discussions focused on enhancing interparliamentary relations and exploring avenues for mutual cooperation.

These meetings reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to promoting parliamentary diplomacy as a key element of its foreign policy and fostering constructive engagement with legislative institutions around the world.
