Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Meets Arab Parliament President in Cairo

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with President of the Arab Parliament Mohamed Alyammahi in Cairo during her working visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Milli Majlis press service reported.
During the meeting, Speaker Gafarova praised the growing relations between Azerbaijan and Muslim countries, emphasizing that these ties are built upon deep-rooted religious, cultural, and spiritual values shared among nations.
Both sides highlighted the crucial role of interparliamentary cooperation in strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations. It was noted that the Milli Majlis maintains close collaboration with the Arab Parliament and the legislative bodies of its member states. The parties also expressed satisfaction with the participation of parliamentary delegations from several Arab countries in the International Parliamentary Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, recently held in Baku.
President Mohamed Alyammahi underscored that Azerbaijan holds a special place among Arab nations and extended his congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the Constitution and the 5th anniversary of Victory Day, celebrated on November 8.
The meeting further underlined the importance of joint activities between the Milli Majlis and the Arab Parliament at the international level. It was noted that the Arab Parliament attaches significant importance to its cooperation with the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN), established on the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and currently chaired by the Milli Majlis. The NAM Parliamentary Network enjoys observer status in the Arab Parliament, which actively participates in all its events.
The two sides also exchanged views on ways to further expand cooperation between the Milli Majlis and the Arab Parliament and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing joint efforts to strengthen interparliamentary dialogue and solidarity.
