Azerbaijani President, Iranian FM hold talks in Baku
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian have held talks in Baku.
Iran’s Amirabdollahian and Azerbaijan’s Aliyev exchanged views on regional and bilateral issues during a meeting held on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) ministerial meeting on Wednesday.
Amirabdollahian is scheduled to meet with his counterparts from various participating countries.
The NAM ministerial meeting under the theme of “united and steadfast in confronting emerging challenges” started work in the Azerbaijani capital on Wednesday for two days.
Founded in 1961 in Belgrade, NAM has 120 members and 21 observers which have been trying to remain independent from global powers.
During the 23rd SCO summit, which took place virtually and was hosted by India on Tuesday, the Islamic Republic of Iran was officially accepted as the ninth full member of the bloc, the second expansion since the SCO was founded in 2001.
