Azerbaijani Speaker Meets Turkish Vice President on COP30 Sidelines in Brazil

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova met with Vice President of Türkiye Cevdet Yilmaz on the sidelines of the 30th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), held in Belém, Federative Republic of Brazil.

During the meeting, Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz commended Azerbaijan’s successful organization of COP29 in Baku in 2024, noting that significant and impactful decisions had been adopted during the conference. He emphasized Türkiye’s active participation in the event and congratulated Azerbaijan on the occasion of November 8 – Victory Day, praising the country’s historic achievement in liberating its lands from occupation.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova underlined that relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye continue to advance in accordance with the principle of “One nation, two states,” established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev. “Our brotherly countries constantly support each other in all matters,” she stated.

Both sides lauded the exceptional role of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye in elevating bilateral relations to their current high level, highlighting that their personal friendship, brotherhood, and political determination have been key to the dynamic development of strategic ties between the two nations.

The meeting also underscored that the close relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye contribute significantly to strengthening cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

In this context, the parties stressed the importance of the Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Pakistan trilateral summit, viewing it as a valuable platform for enhancing regional collaboration and strategic partnership.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of inter-parliamentary dialogue in further deepening bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

The discussions also touched upon regional developments, with the parties noting that the ongoing Azerbaijan–Armenia reconciliation process would play a vital role in ensuring long-term peace, stability, and prosperity across the South Caucasus region.
