Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Presents Credentials to Rwandan President Paul Kagame

Kigali, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Ruslan Nasibov, has officially presented his credentials to Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda. The ceremony, according to AZERTAC and reported by News Hub Consultants, marks a significant step in the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Rwanda.

During the meeting, Ambassador Nasibov conveyed warm greetings from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to President Kagame. In response, the Rwandan President extended his own greetings to President Aliyev, underscoring the mutual respect and goodwill between the two leaders.

The discussion between the ambassador and President Kagame highlighted the strong ties of friendship and partnership between Azerbaijan and Rwanda. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, a milestone that was acknowledged during the talks.

President Kagame fondly recalled his past visits to Azerbaijan and expressed a keen interest in further strengthening bilateral relations. He also expressed his intention to participate in the upcoming COP29 Conference, which is scheduled to take place in Baku this November, signaling Rwanda’s continued engagement with Azerbaijan on global environmental issues.

In addition to his meeting with President Kagame, Ambassador Nasibov also met with Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe. During this meeting, the ambassador briefed the minister on the new realities in the South Caucasus region following Azerbaijan’s restoration of its territorial integrity and sovereignty. He highlighted the extensive restoration efforts in the liberated Azerbaijani territories and the ongoing progress in normalizing relations with Armenia, despite challenges from certain external forces.

The discussions between Ambassador Nasibov and Rwandan officials also explored prospects for enhancing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Rwanda across various sectors, reflecting a shared commitment to deepening ties and fostering collaborative opportunities.

The presentation of credentials and the subsequent meetings underscore the growing importance of Azerbaijan-Rwanda relations and the potential for increased collaboration on both bilateral and multilateral platforms.
