Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Participates in First High-Level Committee Meeting of ECO in Tehran
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Yalchin Rafiyev, participated in the First High-Level Committee (HLC) Meeting of ECO Deputy Foreign Ministers held in Tehran. The committee convened to discuss a range of critical organizational reforms aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
Key issues addressed during the meeting included financial and budgetary matters, improvements to the efficiency of the ECO Secretariat, and the refinement of recruitment policies. The committee also deliberated on strategies to strengthen the operational framework of the organization to better address regional challenges.
One of the most significant outcomes of the meeting was the development of a strategic document for the ECO’s future, which will shape the organization’s direction for the next decade. This document will be reviewed at the 17th ECO Summit, which is scheduled to be hosted by Azerbaijan later this year.
In his address, Deputy Minister Rafiyev outlined Azerbaijan’s stance on the ongoing ECO reforms and emphasized the importance of future regional cooperation. He expressed confidence that the ECO Vision 2035 document would serve as a catalyst for effectively addressing pressing regional issues and further strengthening collaboration among member states.
During his visit to Tehran, Rafiyev also held consultations on multilateral cooperation with Asad Majeed Khan, Secretary General of ECO, Sayed Rasool Mohajer, Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, and his counterparts from other member states. These discussions highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to enhancing multilateral cooperation within the ECO framework.
