Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Meets OSCE Secretary General on Sidelines of Munich Security Conference

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Feridun Sinirlioğlu, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

The meeting focused on key aspects of Azerbaijan-OSCE cooperation, including regional and international security challenges, the current geopolitical landscape, and the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process.

Minister Bayramov extended his congratulations to Secretary General Sinirlioğlu on his appointment and wished him success in his role. Both sides emphasized the significance of upholding international law, particularly the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of internationally recognized borders, given the pressing security challenges in Europe.

Providing an update on the post-conflict situation in the region, Bayramov highlighted the necessity of dismantling remnants of structures from the previous occupation to ensure the effective implementation of OSCE activities in accordance with regional realities.

Regarding the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, Bayramov underscored that Armenia’s territorial claims against Azerbaijan, as reflected in its Constitution and other legal documents, remain a significant obstacle to lasting peace.

The two officials also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to constructive dialogue and cooperation within the OSCE framework.
