Bahrain participates in 4th session of Arab Council for Population and Development

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Cabinet Affairs Minister, Hamad bin Faisal Al-Maliki, has affirmed unwavering efforts of Bahrain to invest in human beings, as the best means to continue the development process in various fields, noting that the post-COVID-19 development efforts aim to achieve recovery through a wide range of strategic projects and initiatives, in accordance with the visions and directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The minister said that the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has adopted a number of policies and strategies in its programme at the level of population and development based on demographic indicators, in a way that contributes to advancing the development process, highlighting the importance of continuing to exchange experiences at the regional and international levels to adopt best practices in the field of population and development in a way that supports endeavours towards achieving the forecast goals.

Al-Maliki was speaking during his participation in the fourth session of the Arab Council for Population and Development, held here under the chairmanship of Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal bin Fadhel Al-Ebrahim.

The meeting discussed the priorities of Arab countries regarding the issues of people and development. It also shed light on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Arab countries, and the policies they have adopted to address them at the level of population policies and programmes.

It also featured the second regional review of the 2013 Cairo Declaration on Population and Development, implemented in partnership with the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
