Bahrain’s FM praises HM King’s efforts for spreading religious harmony
Manama, The Gulf : Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani affirmed Bahrain’s appreciation for the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for religious harmony, and his pride in the official visit of His Holiness Pope Francis and Al Azhar Grand Imam His Eminence Dr. Ahmed El Tayeb, at the Bahrain Dialogue Forum: East and West for Human coexistence.
The minister commended the outcomes of the forum on spreading security, peace, and religious tolerance, following the humanitarian and diplomatic approach of His Majesty the King, and the directives of the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He noted His Majesty the King’s speech on the forum’s outputs and his contributions to upholding the values of peace and understanding. He highlighted the establishment of the King Hamad Global Award for Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence to confirm the significance of dialogue, understanding, and joint cooperation between countries and peoples.
He also referred to the Pope’s appreciation in his speech for cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity and peaceful coexistence in the Kingdom, the principles of the Bahrain Declaration, and highlighted the historical stances of Al Azhar Grand Imam in spreading the values of tolerance.
The minister thanked the concerted efforts exerted to organize this international event, with huge participation. He highlighted Bahrain’s significant protection and promotion of human rights and coexistence between religions, sectors, and races, in light of its respect for religious freedoms and the sanctity of places of worship, in the presence of mosques, churches, and temples.
