Bahrain’s Oil minister inaugurates ESF forum 2023
Manama, The Gulf Observer: Oil and Environment Minister and Climate Affairs Special Envoy Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina inaugurated the Middle East Energy & Sustainability Forum (ESF 2023).
The forum discussed issues related to carbon removal in refining projects using the latest specialized technology while providing the best solutions and studies in the field.
The forum reviewed carbon removal ways and transition strategies, the initial foundations for a low-carbon future, the transition to a circular economy through recycling and conversion of plastic waste, the latest technologies and projects of green and blue hydrogen, in addition to technology carbon capture and storage investment.
The minister thanked the Euro Petroleum Consultants for choosing the Kingdom to hold the forum.
He stressed the interest and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in enhancing cooperation with various parties to achieve sustainable development goals and providing the right means to attract such events.
He highlighted the forum’s aims to implement new strategies for energy transition and build a low-carbon future and find solutions to face various challenges.
The minister stressed the importance of global coordination to ensure continued access to clean, reliable energy at reasonable and competitive prices.
He confirmed that Bahrain has adopted many initiatives to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2035 by enhancing energy efficiency and direct investment in carbon capture technologies to achieve a gradual transition to a more sustainable energy future and zero neutrality by 2060.
The forum also focused on the GCC region and its role in meeting the latest goals without affecting the needs of future generations, and the importance of strengthening cooperation with technology companies to reach sustainable development.
