Baku Hosts Traditional ‘Media Literacy’ Conference to Promote Media Awareness
Baku, The Gulf Observer: The traditional “Media Literacy” conference, organized by the Media Development Agency, commenced in Baku as part of Media Literacy Week. The event aims to foster a culture of critical media consumption and strengthen communication between key societal stakeholders.
In his opening remarks, Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, emphasized that enhancing media literacy is an ongoing process that demands the active participation of all segments of society. Ismayilov highlighted the importance of building effective communication channels between state institutions, the media, and society, underscoring the need for collaboration based on sound principles.
The conference brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, academia, media professionals, civil society organizations, and local and international experts specializing in media literacy. Around 500 Azerbaijani volunteers and young participants also took part in the event, reflecting the growing interest among youth in understanding and navigating the modern media landscape.
A key focus of the conference was the role of the Media Literacy Platform in advancing and promoting media literacy. The platform has been instrumental in providing tools and resources to empower individuals to critically analyze and engage with media content.
The “Media Literacy” conference serves as a vital forum for dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas aimed at fostering a more informed and media-savvy society.
