Bali Airport Records 1,751,427 Passengers in February 2024

Denpasar, The Gulf Observer: On Saturday, the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali Province, Handy Heryudhitiawan, announced that the airport had served a total of 1,751,427 passengers in February 2024, marking a significant milestone in the region’s aviation sector. Among these, 1,002,390 passengers were international travelers, underscoring the airport’s crucial role as an international gateway.
Heryudhitiawan revealed that the airport facilitated the travel of one million international passengers across 5,520 flights during the said month. Notably, the airport saw a predominant influx of travelers from Singapore, totaling 206,168 passengers, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 135,768 passengers, and Perth with 73,138 passengers.
Highlighting the demographic distribution of international arrivals, Heryudhitiawan stated that Australian nationals constituted the majority, amounting to 96,262 individuals. Chinese and Indian citizens followed closely, comprising 56,476 and 35,885 travelers, respectively.
In addition to international traffic, the airport also accommodated 749,037 domestic passengers through 5,388 flights within the same period, demonstrating the sustained vibrancy of domestic air travel.
Heryudhitiawan emphasized a notable surge in passenger traffic since January 2024, with a remarkable 21 percent increase compared to the corresponding period in 2023. Over the two-month period spanning January to February 2024, the airport served a cumulative total of 3,555,108 passengers, indicative of Bali’s thriving tourism sector.
The General Manager further projected a continuous uptick in passenger numbers in anticipation of Eid al-Fitr and the forthcoming summer season. Several airlines have already expressed interest in expanding their services, with requests for additional flights to various international destinations such as Bengaluru, Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Taipei, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu.
Exciting developments are on the horizon as multiple airlines gear up for inaugural flights at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport this summer, including prestigious carriers like Etihad Airways, Indigo Airlines, and Starlux Airlines. Heryudhitiawan affirmed ongoing coordination efforts to finalize schedules for these inaugural flights, expressing optimism for their prompt commencement.
The burgeoning passenger traffic and forthcoming expansions underscore the airport’s pivotal role in driving economic growth and enhancing connectivity in the region, solidifying its position as a key player in Bali’s aviation landscape.
