Belgrade Hosts Political Consultations Between Azerbaijan and Serbia
Belgrade, The Gulf Observer: Belgrade hosted a new round of political consultations between Azerbaijan and Serbia on Wednesday, as both nations aim to deepen their strategic partnership across multiple sectors. The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Serbian side was headed by Damjan Jovic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Key topics of discussion included strengthening cooperation in political, economic, energy, and humanitarian fields, as well as expanding collaboration within international organizations. Both delegations reviewed Azerbaijan’s major strategic energy and transport projects, which play a significant role in the regional economy.
The upcoming COP29 climate conference, set to be hosted by Azerbaijan in November 2024, was highlighted as a crucial event to further solidify the partnership between Azerbaijan and Serbia. The meeting also emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation, with both sides recognizing the benefits of mutual visits and increased bilateral and multilateral engagements.
The Azerbaijani delegation provided an in-depth overview of the post-conflict situation in the region, detailing Azerbaijan’s efforts to build lasting peace, address the issue of landmines in liberated territories, and continue restoration and reconstruction projects. Regional and international developments, along with other issues of mutual interest, were also covered during the consultations.
In addition to the official talks, Fariz Rzayev held meetings with other Serbian officials and participated in roundtable discussions with researchers and experts, further enhancing dialogue between the two countries.
