Bilateral Agreements Signed Between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Following productive negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, an extensive package of bilateral documents has been adopted, marking a significant milestone in the relationship between the two nations.
In a landmark event, both leaders signed a Joint Statement on further deepening and expanding their comprehensive strategic partnership. This statement underscores the commitment of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to foster closer ties and mutual cooperation.
During the state visit, a total of 16 documents were signed, highlighting various areas of collaboration. Notably, an intergovernmental Agreement on resort and recreational management in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan was concluded, promising enhanced tourism and economic opportunities in this picturesque region.
In addition, a protocol amending the Agreement on mutual trips of citizens was signed, facilitating easier travel and fostering people-to-people connections between the two countries. Furthermore, significant progress was made in Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization, with negotiations reaching a successful conclusion.
The bilateral agreements also included protocols on cooperation in several critical sectors, such as construction, labor relations, culture and art, and public service. Comprehensive plans for cooperation development in physical culture and sports, agriculture, and food security were also formalized, ensuring a broad spectrum of collaboration.
Moreover, plans for the development of cooperation between the cities of Tashkent and Bishkek for the coming years were solidified, promoting urban partnerships and shared growth.
The Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan and the National Institute for Strategic Initiatives under the President of Kyrgyzstan reaffirmed their commitment to joint research and policy development through a newly signed memorandum.
These agreements symbolize a new era of strategic partnership and cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, paving the way for sustained economic growth, cultural exchange, and regional stability.
