British foreign secretary to visit China

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the UK James Cleverly will visit China on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Tuesday.
Cleverly was invited by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
Detailing Cleverly’s upcoming visit at a daily press briefing, Wang said as both permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and major global economies, China and the UK shoulder the common responsibility of promoting world peace, stability and development, adding that maintaining and developing bilateral relations is in the common interests of the two peoples.
During Cleverly’s visit, both sides will have in-depth communication on China-UK relations and international and regional issues of common concern, Wang said.
Wang expressed his hope that the UK will work with China to uphold the spirit of mutual respect and conduct in-depth exchanges to promote the stable development of China-UK relations.
