Bulgarian President Radev Calls for Strategic Rethink at Delphi Forum

Delphi, The Gulf Observer: Speaking at the Tenth Annual Delphi Economic Forum, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev voiced strong confidence in Europe’s ability to navigate its growing challenges and reinforce its global standing. However, he emphasized that this requires a fundamental shift in mindset — one that moves beyond conventional approaches and embraces bold, forward-thinking strategies.
In a candid address, President Radev pointed to the increasingly volatile geopolitical landscape, warning of a deteriorating global security framework, mounting pressure on traditional economic models, and the disruptive impact of new tariffs on international markets. These issues, coupled with economic stagnation in some of Europe’s strongest economies, are making future planning increasingly difficult, he noted.
Radev called for a comprehensive re-evaluation of Europe’s strategic direction, urging European leaders to raise their ambition and reimagine policies in critical sectors. Key areas highlighted included security enhancement, clarification of Europe’s geopolitical positioning, boosting economic competitiveness, strengthening the capital market, and fostering innovation in energy, artificial intelligence, and technology.
He concluded by underscoring the importance of European unity, stating that a cohesive, collective approach is essential to overcoming shared challenges and securing Europe’s role on the global stage.
