Bulgarian Prime Minister Zhelyazkov Reaffirms European Solidarity

Tirana, The Gulf Observer: Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov held key diplomatic meetings in Tirana this week, underscoring Bulgaria’s commitment to European solidarity, regional peace, and integration.
During talks with the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, Prime Minister Zhelyazkov emphasized Bulgaria’s steadfast support for Ukraine amid ongoing negotiations with Russia. The two leaders discussed strategic measures to enhance pan-European security and reaffirmed their shared dedication to upholding democratic principles and human rights across the continent.
“The defense of Ukraine is the defense of Europe,” Prime Minister Zhelyazkov stated, reiterating Bulgaria’s alignment with EU foreign policy priorities.
In a separate bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Zhelyazkov also engaged with Moldovan President Maia Sandu. The discussion centered on Bulgaria’s continued support for Moldova’s European integration and reforms aimed at advancing democratic governance and institutional modernization.
Prime Minister Zhelyazkov affirmed that Bulgaria remains a committed partner in Moldova’s EU accession journey. “Our shared European future is built on solidarity, mutual respect, and active cooperation,” he said.
A significant portion of the dialogue focused on the status of the Bulgarian minority in Moldova. Both leaders acknowledged the community’s role as a cultural bridge between the two nations. Zhelyazkov reiterated Bulgaria’s commitment to preserving the cultural identity, language, and educational opportunities of Bulgarians residing in Moldova, identifying it as a foreign policy priority.
The Prime Minister’s meetings in Tirana reflect Bulgaria’s active engagement in regional diplomacy and its ongoing efforts to support stability, democratic values, and European integration throughout Southeast Europe.
