Cargo transportation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan resumed
Termez, The Gulf Observer: Termez hosted negotiations on February 8-10 between delegations of Uzbekistan Railways, its subsidiary Sogdiana Trans and the Afghan Railway Authority on further cooperation, the Uzbek railway company reported.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached and a new protocol was signed between the Afghan Railway Authority and Sogdiana Trans on further operation of Hairatan-Mazar-i-Sharif railway.
As per the agreement, from February 10, the delivery of wagons to Hairatan station, Afghanistan was resumed by the Sogdiana Trans.
Earlier, Uzbekistan has suspended rail transportation to Afghanistan since February 1, as the Afghan railway workers failed to perform the planned maintenance. It was planned to open traffic along the Galaba-Hairatan railway line to Afghanistan after the signing of a new contract between the Sogdiana Trans company and the Afghan Railway Authority.
