China and Russia Hold 19th Strategic Security Consultation in Beijing

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China and Russia held the 19th round of their annual strategic security consultation in Beijing on Tuesday, focusing on key issues of mutual concern related to strategic security. The meeting was co-chaired by Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, and Wang Yi highlighted that under the leadership of both nations’ heads of state, bilateral relations have remained robust and stable despite global shifts. He emphasized that the China-Russia partnership is built on the principles of good-neighborliness, comprehensive strategic coordination, and mutually beneficial cooperation, which serve the fundamental interests of both peoples.

Wang further stated that the two countries have continuously supported each other on core issues, deepening political trust and advancing practical cooperation, thereby creating a new model for relations between neighboring major countries. This partnership has notably strengthened solidarity and cooperation within the Global South.

He stressed that the China-Russia strategic security consultation mechanism should focus on strengthening coordination on strategic issues that impact the security and development of both nations. Wang also called for enhanced exchanges and multilateral coordination between China and Russia to ensure the continued momentum of high-level relations and contribute to global strategic stability.

In his remarks, Sergei Shoigu expressed Russia’s commitment to implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state and further enhancing bilateral cooperation. He noted that both countries aim to bolster coordination within multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS, with the goal of promoting the continuous growth of Russia-China relations.
