China Issues Yellow Alert for Rainstorms in Multiple Regions

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: On Friday, China’s meteorological authority issued a yellow alert for rainstorms, forecasting heavy rainfall across several regions of the country. The National Meteorological Center announced that from 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, torrential rain is expected to impact parts of Henan, Hunan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, and Jilin.

Specific areas in Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Inner Mongolia, and Jilin could experience up to 180 mm of rainfall. Additionally, some locations within these regions may encounter short-term heavy rainfall, with precipitation rates exceeding 80 mm per hour, accompanied by thunderstorms and gales.

In light of the anticipated severe weather, the meteorological center has urged local governments to undertake necessary preparations. This includes checking and ensuring the efficiency of drainage systems in urban areas, farmlands, and fishponds to mitigate potential flooding and waterlogging.

China utilizes a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, where red represents the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow, and blue. The current yellow alert signifies a need for caution and preparedness due to significant but not the most extreme weather conditions.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take appropriate safety measures to protect themselves and their property from the expected adverse weather conditions.
