China ready to be reliable partner of UN in maintaining world peace: FM

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China is ready to be a reliable partner of the United Nations (UN) in maintaining world peace and promoting common development, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang said on Tuesday.
Qin made the remarks when he met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary A. DiCarlo in Beijing.
As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a responsible major country, China has been a major supporter and an important participant in the cause of the UN since its lawful seat in the UN was restored in 1971, Qin said. It firmly upholds the purposes and principles of the UN Charter both now and in the future, and will always be a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of international order, he added.
He pointed out that China’s cooperation with the UN is not only beneficial to each other, but also to the world.
Guided by the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, China has participated in the work of the UN on all fronts, firmly fulfilled its international obligations, actively advocated solidarity and cooperation, and provided global public goods, he noted.
On the UN platform, this concept has spawned action and become a reality, he said, adding the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and China’s efforts to facilitate the restoration of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran and to promote peace talks on the Ukraine crisis are all its vivid practices.
He said that in a world intertwined with turmoil and changes, it is necessary to adhere to genuine multilateralism, uphold fairness and justice, and strengthen solidarity and cooperation in order to break out of the vicious cycle of recurring conflicts and confrontation between major powers. China will firmly support the UN in playing a constructive role in international and regional hotspot issues, he said.
DiCarlo thanked China for its strong support to the UN and said the UN is willing to continue to deepen cooperation with China and jointly propose more solutions to international and regional hotspot issues.
