China Showcases Hainan Free Trade Port as a Model of High-Level Opening-Up
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China reaffirmed its commitment to high-level opening-up and fostering a business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized, Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced on Wednesday. Speaking at a promotional event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to spotlight the Hainan Free Trade Port, Wang emphasized the nation’s dedication to promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and implementing the Global Development Initiative.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, highlighted the rapid progress of the Hainan Free Trade Port. The region has become a magnet for regional and global enterprises, creating a vibrant and dynamic hub of openness and economic activity.
“The Hainan Free Trade Port has emerged as a new frontier for institutional opening up, a hotspot for mutually beneficial regional cooperation, and a driving force for global economic integration,” Wang said. He invited the international community to visit Hainan and witness the progress firsthand, noting that “seeing is believing.”
During the event, Wang reiterated China’s development principles—openness, innovation, green sustainability, inclusivity, and peace. “Choosing China means choosing opportunities, and embracing China means embracing the future,” he remarked.
The event featured presentations by senior officials from Hainan province to an audience of over 500 participants, including diplomats and officials from more than 160 countries, representatives from international organizations, business leaders, and media professionals.
China unveiled its master plan for the Hainan Free Trade Port in June 2020, with the goal of transforming the entire province into a globally significant free trade hub by 2050. The initiative is part of the nation’s broader strategy to enhance global cooperation and drive economic growth through open trade policies and innovation-driven development.
Hainan’s role in advancing institutional openness and fostering regional collaboration underlines its importance as a cornerstone of China’s economic globalization agenda.
