China Successfully Launches Communication Technology Experiment Satellite
Wenchang, The Gulf Observer: China achieved another milestone in its space exploration endeavors as it successfully launched a communication technology experiment satellite from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on the southern island province of Hainan. The satellite, launched at 7:30 p.m. (Beijing Time) on Friday, was carried into space by a Long March-5 Y7 carrier rocket and entered the planned orbit successfully.
The newly launched satellite is designated for multi-band and high-speed communication technology experiments, contributing to the ongoing advancements in China’s space capabilities. This mission marks the 509th for the Long March series carrier rockets, showcasing the extensive experience and reliability of China’s space launch program.
The Long March-5 rocket, renowned as the largest low-temperature carrier rocket in service in China, was developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology. Featuring a core stage with a diameter of 5 meters, it is powered by two YF-77 hydrogen-oxygen engines and eight YF-100 liquid oxygen and kerosene engines, providing a takeoff thrust of more than 1,000 tonnes.
Lou Luliang, Deputy Chief Designer of the rocket, stated that the Long March-5 carrier rocket is anticipated to have four to five launches throughout the year, with such a frequency expected to be maintained in the next few years. This underscores China’s commitment to consistently advancing its space exploration initiatives and technology.
The successful launch reaffirms China’s position as a key player in the global space exploration landscape and highlights the nation’s dedication to advancing communication technology for various applications in space.
