China's ATA Carnet

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China’s national trade promotion system, represented by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), reported a remarkable surge in the issuance of Admission Temporaire/Temporary Admission (ATA) Carnets in the first quarter of this year. According to the CCPIT, a total of 2,954 ATA Carnets were issued during this period, marking a substantial increase of 73.66 percent compared to the same period last year.

The ATA Carnet serves as an essential international customs and temporary export-import document, facilitating streamlined procedures for temporary exports and imports. The ATA Carnets issued in the first quarter covered a cumulative value of 806 million yuan (approximately 113.4 million U.S. dollars), representing a notable expansion of 117.25 percent year on year.

Zhao Ping, spokesperson of the CCPIT, commented on the significance of these figures, noting that they underscore the proactive engagement of Chinese enterprises in expanding their presence in global markets through various foreign trade-related activities. These activities include participation in overseas exhibitions, business exchanges, and other trade initiatives aimed at fostering international cooperation and market expansion.

In addition to the surge in ATA Carnet issuance, the CCPIT data revealed a broader uptrend in the issuance of trade-related certificates. In total, China issued 1.55 million certificates in the first quarter, reflecting a robust year-on-year increase of 17.38 percent. These certificates encompass a range of trade facilitation documents, including ATA Carnets and Certificates of Origin, among others.

The notable increase in ATA Carnet issuance and other trade-related certificates signals China’s growing commitment to international trade and economic cooperation. By actively participating in global trade activities and leveraging streamlined customs procedures, Chinese enterprises are positioning themselves for enhanced competitiveness and expanded market access on the global stage. As China continues to strengthen its trade promotion efforts, the outlook for sustained growth and increased international trade engagement remains promising.
