China’s iFLYTEK to Establish International Headquarters in Hong Kong’s Cyberport

Hong Kong, The Gulf Observer: China’s artificial intelligence (AI) and intelligent speech giant iFLYTEK, along with its subsidiary iFLYHEALTH, will set up their international headquarters in Hong Kong’s flagship incubator Cyberport. This move aims to foster the development of a local AI ecosystem.

According to a press release from Cyberport, iFLYTEK and iFLYHEALTH plan to invest 400 million Hong Kong dollars (51.22 million U.S. dollars) over the next five years. The investment will establish an international headquarters, international business headquarters, international R&D center, international trade and capital management platform, and a 150-member team dedicated to R&D and overseas market expansion. The goal is to build an AI ecosystem comprising tens of thousands of developers.

iFLYHEALTH will also set up an international research institute at Cyberport, focusing on cutting-edge technology research that integrates medical health and AI.

At the signing ceremony, Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR government, expressed the government’s strong support for Hong Kong’s innovation and technology development, with a particular focus on AI and life and health technology. He noted that Hong Kong has already attracted numerous leading enterprises, including iFLYTEK, SenseTime, and Cisco, contributing to the formation of a robust AI ecosystem.

Simon Chan Sai-ming, Chairman of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, described iFLYTEK’s participation as a significant milestone in Hong Kong’s AI ecosystem. He believes this will further enhance the innovation and R&D capabilities of Hong Kong’s AI industry and facilitate the commercialization of relevant products and technologies, thereby attracting AI investments from both domestic and international sources.
