China's Railways Transport Over 200 Million Passengers During Spring Festival Travel Rush

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China’s railways have successfully transported more than 200 million passengers since the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush began on January 14, according to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway). As of January 30, the country’s railways had moved a total of 206 million passengers, with transportation described as safe, stable, and orderly.

During the first three days of the Spring Festival holiday, which began on January 28, China’s railways transported 22.95 million passengers. In response to the surge in travel demand, railway authorities have increased capacity on popular routes, enhanced station and train services, and implemented various measures aimed at providing passengers with a more efficient and comfortable travel experience.

China’s railway network spans over 160,000 kilometers, with the high-speed railway network exceeding 46,000 kilometers. The network covers 99 percent of Chinese cities with a population of over 200,000, and 97 percent of cities with populations greater than 500,000, according to figures released by China Railway in December.
