Chinese and Mauritanian FM Meet in Beijing to Strengthen Bilateral

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met with Mohamed Salem Ould Merzouk, Mauritania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Beijing on Wednesday. The meeting took place as part of the 10th ministerial meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

During the discussions, Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s steadfast support for Mauritania in its pursuit of a development path tailored to its national conditions. He emphasized China’s opposition to any external interference in Mauritania’s internal affairs. Wang stated that China remains committed to providing assistance within its capacity to support Mauritania’s economic and social development. Additionally, he highlighted China’s readiness to collaborate closely with Mauritania to strengthen and expand China-Arab collective cooperation.

Minister Merzouk expressed Mauritania’s firm adherence to the one-China principle and reiterated Mauritania’s commitment to working with China to further Arab-China and Africa-China relations. He emphasized the importance of promoting the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

The meeting underscored the strong bilateral ties between China and Mauritania and their mutual commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and development.
