Chinese FM Reiterates China’s Commitment to Cambodia’s Development

Phnom Penh, The Gulf Observer: In a formal meeting held on Monday in Phnom Penh, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for Cambodia, emphasizing that amidst evolving international dynamics, China remains Cambodia’s most steadfast ally and advocate for its progress.

During the meeting, which included Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, Wang Yi, who also serves as a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, underscored the enduring bond between the two nations. He highlighted the tangible benefits derived from significant cooperation frameworks and projects, emphasizing their positive impact on the citizens of both countries.

Wang Yi expressed China’s readiness to collaborate closely with Cambodia in implementing an updated action plan aimed at fostering a community with a shared future. Emphasizing the importance of mutual trust and support, Wang Yi proposed further deepening mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet acknowledged the pivotal role of China’s development in creating opportunities for regional nations, noting Cambodia’s substantial gains from this relationship. Hun Manet reiterated Cambodia’s steadfast backing of China’s stance on issues vital to its core interests, including matters concerning Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Xinjiang. Additionally, he affirmed Cambodia’s active participation in initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as its support for global development, security, and civilization initiatives spearheaded by China.

Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed Cambodia’s eagerness to bolster cooperation with China across diverse domains. He extended a warm invitation for increased Chinese investment in Cambodia, with a focus on advancing major projects for mutual benefit. Furthermore, he pledged to enhance coordination and collaboration in multilateral affairs, underscoring the shared commitment to nurturing a prosperous future for both Cambodia and China.
