Chinese Premier Li Qiang Arrives in Riyadh for High-Level Talks
Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday to chair the Fourth Meeting of the High-Level Chinese-Saudi Joint Committee and to visit Saudi Arabia. Premier Li expressed his anticipation that his visit will further strengthen the alignment of development strategies between China and Saudi Arabia, elevating their bilateral relationship to new heights.
Premier Li highlighted the deep-rooted traditional friendship between China and Saudi Arabia. Reflecting on their 34-year diplomatic relationship, he noted that through concerted efforts, the China-Saudi Arabia relationship has experienced significant advancement, yielding substantial results in practical cooperation.
Li recalled that in December 2022, Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the inaugural China-Arab States Summit and the first China-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, and paid a state visit to Saudi Arabia. Over the past year, both nations have actively worked to implement the key outcomes of these summits, strengthening political mutual trust, advancing exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and maintaining close communication on regional and international affairs. This ongoing collaboration has continuously enriched the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Saudi Arabia.
During his visit, Premier Li is scheduled to engage in in-depth discussions with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud on bilateral relations and other mutual concerns. These discussions aim to reinforce the longstanding friendship and broaden cooperation between the two countries.
Li expressed his hope that his visit will further expand mutually beneficial cooperation across diverse fields, deepen the bonds between the two peoples, and promote greater progress in China-GCC and China-Arab relations.
Saudi Arabia marks the first stop on Premier Li’s four-day Middle East tour, which will also include a visit to the United Arab Emirates.
