Chinese, Singaporean FMs hold phone call, discuss bilateral cooperation

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday held a phone call with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and discussed bilateral cooperation.

Speaking highly of ties between China and Singapore, Wang said both countries should draw on successful experiences and continue to give new impetus to the more dynamic development of bilateral relations.

Noting the upcoming resumption of direct flights between Singapore and Beijing, Balakrishnan said Singapore looks forward to preparing for the next phase of high-level interaction with the Chinese side and promoting greater development of bilateral relations.

The two also touched on the COVID-19 prevention situation in China as Balakrishnan praised China’s contribution to global cooperation on fighting the pandemic.

Wang told his Singaporean counterpart that China will achieve the ultimate victory in the fight against COVID-19 and continue to provide greater facilitation of people-to-people exchanges between China and abroad, and to bring more benefits to mutually beneficial cooperation between China and other countries, including Singapore.
