Chinese Vice Premier Calls for Global Cooperation on Sustainable Development at CCICED Meeting
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, who also serves as chairperson of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), delivered a keynote speech at the 2024 CCICED annual meeting on Saturday, underscoring China’s commitment to global environmental cooperation.
Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the Chinese government’s readiness to collaborate with all nations to uphold the vision of a shared future for humanity. He called for collective efforts to steer the world toward a more sustainable future.
Addressing the forum’s attendees, the vice premier highlighted China’s significant contributions to promoting sustainable development and building a “clean and beautiful world.” He noted that the Chinese government places a strong focus on international cooperation in the areas of environmental protection and sustainable development.
Ding pointed out that China’s approach to modernization prioritizes harmony between humanity and nature. He called for openness, greater exchanges, and the upholding of true multilateralism in international relations. Additionally, he urged for increased financial, technological, and capacity-building support to developing nations to ensure they can actively participate in green development initiatives.
The vice premier stressed the importance of scientific and technological innovation as a key driver of global green development. He also reaffirmed China’s commitment to sincere cooperation in global climate efforts, calling for strong international collaboration to ensure the success of the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference in Baku and the sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
The meeting, themed “Open, Inclusive and Innovative Cooperation to Build a Clean and Beautiful World,” drew participation from around 400 attendees, including council members, experts, and international partners, who gathered to discuss global environmental challenges and sustainable development strategies.
