Berakas, The Gulf Observer: By the gracious command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, consent was granted for the appointment of Colonel Aldi bin Haji Hassan as the 15th Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF). A formal parade ceremony to mark the occasion was held at the First Battalion Parade Square, Berakas Garrison.

Upon arrival, Colonel Aldi received the honorary salute and proceeded to inspect the parade, which comprised 517 personnel from all RBLF units, led by Major Haji Abdul Rahim bin Haji Adris, the Second-in-Command of the Engineer Regiment.

In his inaugural address, Colonel Aldi expressed unwavering loyalty to His Majesty and called upon all RBLF personnel to play a pivotal role in advancing Brunei Vision 2035 while strengthening national defence capabilities. He outlined his leadership vision guided by the Defence White Paper 2021, focusing on three core pillars: Deterrence and Response, Defence Diplomacy, and Holistic Defence.

He further emphasized that these pillars are aligned with the principles of Maqasid Syariah, and his aim is to build “Mission-Ready Land Forces” marked by operational excellence, effective leadership, cohesive teamwork, and a strong focus on personnel well-being—covering welfare, health, safety, and work-life balance. Central to his leadership philosophy is the integration of spiritual development grounded in the values of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Captain Abdul Mu’iz Azizi bin Zulkifli of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT), followed by the Doa Selamat and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

The event concluded with a group photo session and a reception at the Officers’ Mess, Berakas Garrison, where Colonel Aldi also signed the official parchment marking his appointment.

Colonel Aldi bin Haji Hassan’s appointment as Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces officially took effect yesterday. Prior to this, he served as the Acting Joint Force Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
