Connectivity Key to Advancing Indonesia’s Tourism Growth, Says Ministry Official

Connectivity

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, underscored the importance of connectivity as a key pillar for the continued growth of Indonesia’s tourism sector.

“There are several pillars of tourism: attractions, accommodation, and connectivity,” Marthini said on Monday. She emphasized that connectivity plays a vital role in facilitating public mobility and stimulating economic growth within the tourism industry.

Marthini called for strategic collaboration among stakeholders — including the government, the transportation industry, and related business players — to strengthen Indonesia’s tourism network.

“If connectivity between countries or between islands is weak, it is impossible for us to achieve our tourism goals,” she added.

According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), domestic tourist movements in November 2025 reached 96.45 million trips, marking a 0.47 percent increase from the previous month. Compared to November 2024, domestic tourism recorded a 19.64 percent rise.
