Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Meets Microsoft’s Brad Smith
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, held a strategic meeting with Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft, at the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre. The discussion focused on advancing partnerships in artificial intelligence (AI), energy, and climate sectors, taking place on the sidelines of the ENACT Majlis, which convened over 80 global leaders from the energy, technology, and investment sectors.
A key focus of the meeting was the ongoing collaboration between ADNOC, Masdar, G42, and Microsoft, aimed at integrating advanced AI technologies to address the accelerating demands in the global energy landscape. The partnership aims to develop low-carbon energy solutions that can support the critical infrastructure powering AI, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to sustainable energy transition.
Further topics included leveraging Microsoft’s expertise in AI and advanced technology to drive Abu Dhabi’s clean energy ambitions. The discussions emphasized the growth of the UAE’s AI ecosystem across key sectors, highlighting opportunities to support clean energy transitions and reduce carbon emissions. A core element of the partnership is a joint initiative by Microsoft, ADNOC, and Masdar to explore powering Microsoft’s data centers with renewable energy, underscoring their shared commitment to sustainability.
The meeting also showcased the UAE’s competitive advantages, including its integrated business infrastructure, advanced regulatory frameworks, and business incentives, all of which position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for technology and sustainable business growth.
The gathering followed the October 31 release of Powering Possible: AI and Energy for a Sustainable Future, a report jointly published by ADNOC, Masdar, and Microsoft. The report examines AI’s role in optimizing energy efficiency, managing complex systems, reducing emissions, and supporting a net-zero future, while addressing the energy demands of advancing AI technologies.
Prominent attendees included Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO; Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi; and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
