Czech Politicians contemplate mandatory mental tests for firearm license holders

Prague Faculty of Arts

Parague, The Gulf Observer: In response to the recent tragic shooting incident at the Prague Faculty of Arts, Czech politicians are deliberating the inclusion of mandatory psychological tests as a prerequisite for obtaining a firearms license in the new gun law currently under consideration.

While this requirement was not initially part of the draft law being discussed in Parliament, the gravity of the recent event has prompted many deputies to reevaluate their previous liberal stance.

Pavel Žáček, the chairman of the Committee on Security, has expressed a shift in favor of introducing psychological tests, highlighting the evolving perspective among lawmakers in light of heightened concerns about public safety and firearm access.
